Hello!  Thanks so much for checking out my website!

I often get asked how a mother of two from Winnipeg, Manitoba got into the business of making custom guitar picks, so I thought it would be nice to share my story here.

For my entire parental life, I have been very fortunate to be able to stay home and raise my two wonderful kids throughout their childhood, and it has been – by far – the most rewarding ‘job’ that I have ever had. As the kids grew up, they both took an interest in music. Tanner has been drumming since he was 10 years old, and to this day, every time he gets behind the drum kit, it still gives me goose bumps. I have to admit ... I was definitely one of those people that thought "Anybody could be a drummer! ... How hard could it be?" Well, throughout Tanner's 10+ years of formal training, playing in bands and drum ensembles, and eventually teaching drum lessons himself - I definitely earned a whole new respect for the mind-boggling talent that drummers possess. I won't even get into how poorly I did when I asked Tanner to give me a drum lesson. If you've never tried it ... trust me ... it's WAY harder than it looks.

Carly’s instrument of choice was the guitar. Prior to her birthday in 2007, I was thinking that it would be pretty cool if I could get her some of her very own custom guitar picks as a gift. After scouring the internet, I found that there was nobody out there that would do small orders of custom guitar picks. Heck, there wasn't even anyone that did custom guitar picks in Canada! Now, considering that Carly was only 10 years old at the time, I knew that a minimum order of 100 picks was a little bit excessive, and not exactly cost efficient for a 'fun gift'.

Frustrated and disappointed (yet somehow inspired), I knew that I couldn't be the only person out there looking for a small quantity of custom guitar picks. That very day, I began the process of starting up EGOpicks - with my husband and kids behind me 100%. After many months of hard work, I officially launched EGOpicks on eBay in November of 2007.

Within a year of opening EGOpicks on eBay, I had surprisingly filled over 600 orders for various bands, businesses and individuals from all over the world.  Ironically, my very first EGOpicks customer was a proud dad from Ontario looking for a small set of custom picks for his 8 year old son Lyric.  Lyric Dubee is now in his teens, his music career is taking off like a rocket - and I'm proud to say that he STILL uses EGOpicks to this day.

Launch of the first website

In EGOpicks' second year, I was confident enough to move out of the eBay forum, and into the ‘creative freedoms’ of having my own independent website.  It's now 2014, and I am thrilled to be launching what I jokingly refer to as EGOpicks 3.0!

My major goal with the new EGOpicks website was to make it easier to navigate, and to streamline the ordering process by eliminating some of the guesswork in our brand new enquiry forms.  But keeping with my own philosophies and values, it was my personal decision not to make the ordering process 100% automated.  I truly enjoy personally assisting each and every customer with their orders - and making sure they are going to be fully pleased with their EGOpicks products.   It's obviously more time-consuming this way, but I wouldn't trade the amazing relationships that I've built with my customers for a little bit of extra time in my day.  The glowing comments and testimonials that my customers send me proves to me every day that the personal service I provide is something that people want, deserve, and appreciate ... and I'm happy to do it.

This new website also introduces some brand new products and services that I'm very excited about. I will always offer my OLD-SCHOOL foil printed picks (because NOBODY does them better than I do), but I'm thrilled to now be offering a NEW-SCHOOL digital printing process that gives my customers many more options for their custom guitar picks. I can now put your full-color artwork or your favorite photos onto your picks, and I can also do faster single-color orders for when you just need something simple in a hurry. Our NEW SCHOOL printing process is also opening up the doors to some other exciting new products and band merch items that will be coming very soon. We might even have something on the horizon for all you amazing drummers out there!

In closing, let me just say that I wake up each day, thankful for every person that I’ve had the pleasure of making custom guitar picks for, and I look forward to those that I will be fortunate enough to make picks for in the future.

Keep Rockin’
